Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. In order to do this, we must care about the other person as much as we care about ourselves. It may be easy to do this when empathy makes you look good such as giving to the Red Cross. What about when it doesn’t? Can you resist the urge to get even with the one who was ‘stank’ with you that you KNOW is broken? What about resisting the urge to wrongly judge the person who never seems to speak to you but always talks about you? Everybody is going through SOMETHING. Are you empathetic enough to REMAIN GROWN, not take it personally, but rather take it to God in prayer? This is not an elementary school post. This is graduate school one.
Leviticus 19:18 – ESV – You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
