A Florida judge has set George Zimmerman’s bond at $15,0,000, clearing the way for the killer of Trayvon Martin to be freed from jail as he awaits trial.
In a surprising move, Zimmerman also took the stand during the bond hearing and told Martin’s parents that he was sorry for the loss of their son.
The judge set a number of conditions for the bond, including:
– GPS monitoring
– Zimmerman would have to contact authorities every three days
– No contact with the victim’s family
– No possession of firearms
– No use of controlled substances, other than those prescribed by a physician.
Additionally, Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’Mara requested that Zimmerman be allowed to reside away from Florida, but the judge said O’Mara and the state should meet and determine whether that can be accomplished.
Zimmerman, 28, was charged on April 11 with second-degree murder in the February death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed at the time he was shot and killed by Zimmerman. aFlorida.
